I’ve talkd about it before in more technical, detailed detail, but I felt I needed to hammer the topic home a bit more for everyone. Keyword research, for both PPC AND SEO, is so incredibly important that you should be spending a great, GREAT deal of time on trying to find the profitable ones.
While more “make-or-break” on the PPC side of the court, SEO keyword research can be just as important — if only the result taking a bit longer than PPC. For some heavily competitive PPC campaigns, whether or not you can find a profitable and valuable keyword that you don’t have to pay top dollar for could very well mean the difference on whether or not the entire campaign will be profitable for you or not.
Since there’s enough information out there for you to gather with a quick Google search, I am not going to whore out my affiliate links to some of the more expensive keyword research software products on the market today. Why? Because I want to keep your trust and while most of the expensive software is very good, some of it just isn’t… so I don’t want to sacrifice the relationship I’ve been building with all of my readers over a few measley dollars!
No matter what type of software you manage to get your hands on, you’re going to need to do a lot of research and put a lot of work in no matter what side of the Internet Marketing court you are on. Like I said earlier, keyword research for SEO is just as important, it just takes a bit longer to see if you succeeded or failed miserably.
However the one thing you should be aware of is that when you’re getting some keyword research software, make sure you know which type of software it is for — PPC or SEO. There are two different types and there aren’t a lot of products that offer resources for both strategies — so just make sure you’re buying the correct type of product before you click the submit/buy/purchase button. The stuff isn’t cheap, but the upper hand that it can give you is so valuable that you can’t even put a price tag on it.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. This is not an industry to be cheap in. You’re going to have to spend some money from time to time in order to truly succeed. So measure out your income and bills and the like and make sure you can afford it and then go and get some. You’ll be thanking me later!

You can generate very good keywords using many of the free tools out there including the ones offered by Google, Yahoo!, and MSN. But in this business, time is money. If you are tight for cash, then use the free tools and do some of the manual work.
But if you are making money, why are you wasting your time on manual keyword research. You really have to optimize your workload so that you spend the most amount of time on the things that yield the highest return.
Think about it and put it into perspective. Let others do the work. Outsource if you have to. Your own time is more precious than gold!
