PPC or SEO?

It’s been an age old debate in the Internet Marketing world and while there is no right or wrong answer to the question, people tend to have their own opinions on each. The most important thing to remember is that both PPC and SEO based campaigns can make you money, there’s just different pros and cons to each one.

PPC is very popular since it’s easy to set up and you can make money very quickly with it. The one big downside though is that you can lose a lot of money just as quickly and depending on what type of campaigns or products you’re trying to run, it can get quite pricey and if you aren’t getting conversions, it can get frustrating and expensive very fast.

SEO on the other hand is usually completely free (at least compared to SEO) and the only real downside to it is that it can take a lot longer, sometimes even months before you begin to see any results from it. But then again, it’s pretty much free more or less so you really have to weight the pros with the cons. Are you beginning to see why this is such a heated debate?

I tend to completely disagree with the people who decide to take on definitive side on the matter. If you’re interested in making money online and willing to do whatever it takes to succeed, than you’re going to have multiple PPC campaigns AND multiple SEO campaigns. I mean, why wouldn’t you? Sure, it’s great to have your own opinions on which one is better and why but in the end, you’re going to want to be utilizing different projects for both of them to just monetize your ass off.

Just go ahead and pull out all the stops! It’s a no brainer not to!

One thing great about SEO campaigns is that sometimes we give up on a campaign and forget about it. Then several months later when you go back into resume work (or cancel the campaign completely), you may suddenly realize that the SEO engine has been making you some revenue (usually small), but nevertheless, it’s generating money with no manual effort whatsoever.

For those wondering what kinds of campaigns work well with SEO, I personally use eBay Partner Network using tools like BANS or PhpBay Pro.

I like to say that SEO can pay the mortgage, but PPC can pay ‘off’ the mortgage.

  3. What I like to do it take my most profitable PPC campaigns and use the most profitable keywords with the least competing pages and do SEO for them.

You are right Jeremy when you say, you gotta do what it takes to make the money and to succeed, If you’re company had to make choice though… between SEO and PPC, which would you choose? Personally I see it like the Stock Market… there are some stocks you want to keep for the short run, which would relate to PPC in the internet marketing world, where as… on the flip side… there are some stocks you want to own for the long run to make money, and that’s where SEO would come into the picture. If I had to make a clear choice on one… it would depend on the project… but more than likely I would lean towards SEO.

    Till then,

Sorry I mistyped it… I meant to say Jeremiah, I have a friend with the name Jeremy… so since you’re names are similar… I tend to mistake from time to time… my bad man :(

  5. I admit that I tend to neglect PPC to concentrate mostly on SEO. With SEO you can get long term free traffic, whereas PPC can get expensive if not managed properly. To me PPC is more of a short term strategy that relies on a well converting site. If your site doesn’t convert well, you have little choice but to use SEO instead of PPC.

Between the two, I think choosing SEO is a no brainer. Unless you need results right away, SEO will fulfill your needs. Why waste tons of money buying clicks every day when you can develop a stream of cheap traffic that will keep coming for years.

  8. Good analyze between PPC and SEO, both are vise versal. If we want in sort period leads and traffic then we follow PPC but it will be lmited period. In case of SEO, it take time but we get good amount of traffic for long traffic.
