Networking, networking, networking…

One of the most important yet indirect things that you can do to further branch out your Internet/Affiliate Marketing business or company is to network with as many people within the industry as you possibly can. Now, there’s a fine line between networking effectively and in a friendly way and networking ineffectively and in an annoying, make-people-want-to-punch-you-in-the-frigging-face kind of way. If it hasn’t yet dawned on you yet, you’re going to want to network effectively and in a friendly way. How do you do that you ask?

Let’s find out!

Before we get into anything else, if you decide to get business cards make sure that you do NOT force them on people. There’s nothing worse than having a bunch of little business cards that you don’t want and which are JUST big enough so that you can’t just toss them on the floor because people will notice and call you a litterer. Trust me, the kind of pissed off person that results from the aformentioned scenario is definitely someone that is NOT going to be an effective networking contact — especially since they’re likely going to light your business card on fire the first moment they get a chance. Never a good thing with networking. You want them to keep those business cards!

The other most effective way to network is to help people out, be as friendly as possible without being overly creepy and pretty much just scratch EVERYONE’S back in the hopes that one day they’ll return the favor and scratch yours. While we’re all technically rivals and business opponents when it comes right down to it, we’re all of pretty much the same makeup in that we’re all incredibly driven to succeed, can’t stand sleeping and like to make money every hour of every day of every week of every month of every year. It’s true, it’s true!

So go ahead and get out there! Create a Facebook account and try and get as many friends as you can in the least-annoying way possible. You’re not going to see any results immedietely but perhaps down the road when you least expect it — BAM! All of a sudden you’re getting your back scratched!

Gotta love networking!
